By creating representational landscape paintings I strive to capture the natural elements in a vista. This often includes an image familiar to a town or people who may be there. The darks and the lights on a form and the feeling that the scene provokes in me inspire me to recreate that very feeling in my art.
I am fortunate to live by the beautiful ocean, and it inspires me every day to get those good feelings it stirs in me into a painting to share.
I love to paint in oils; the feeling of the rich paint being placed on the canvas and how I have time to play with it being influenced by my environment. When I finish a painting, it feels so good to have achieved what I set out to do and have a concrete image to show for my time spent.
I am especially moved by my coastal surroundings and the changes in the weather and the light as it sets the tone for a painting. My intent is to capture that feeling one gets as they walk around a seaside town or on a special vacation and how good it makes them feel. I hope to capture that feeling and give the viewer a piece of an idyllic setting that they can enjoy in their homes to remember how it made them feel.
