Katharine Ball Neilson
Pastelist
I received my BFA in Art Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. As an art education major, I was exposed to many art mediums and over the years I have continued to participate in all kinds of art related classes, workshops and art excursions whenever I can. While interested in many art forms, it is pastels, photography and ceramics that I always come back to.
My original pastels have been sold through the design firms Williams and Spade, and Jeanne Racioppi Designs in Boston, Sudbury and Newport. I also maintained a studio in Boston as a member of the SoWa Artists Guild for several years before moving from Weston to Scituate.
Growing up, I spent summers on Rebecca Road in the cottage my great grandfather built and through a turn of events I moved back to Scituate, full time in 2014. I love everything about being near the water and find that much of my art reflects that. I also enjoy exploring color and finding an emotional connection to what I am creating.
